Marist Names New Members into the Alumni Executive Board

The Marist College Alumni Executive Board is proud to announce a new slate of officers:

Jeffrey M. Schanz '94/'99M - President
Pat Mara '97 - Vice President
Alicia Ross-Grasfeder '98 - Treasurer
Maura Brouilette '96 - Secretary

The gavel was transferred from Jim Daly '72, who has been the President of the Alumni Executive Board since 2005, to Jeff Schanz during the Board's June planning session. The College is grateful to Jim for his dedication, support, and service during his term as president. Jim will continue to serve on the board as chairman of the Membership Committee.

The Alumni Executive Board supports the Office of Alumni Relations by fostering communication between alumni and the College, offering programs and activities that will further the welfare of the College and alumni, encouraging and facilitating support of the Marist Fund and other development programs, and developing a relationship with undergraduates so that in the future they will play active roles as alumni.

Jeffrey M. Schanz '94/'99M - President

Jeffrey Schanz

Jeffrey M. Schanz is the assistant vice president for alumni relations at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY, and Executive Director of the Rensselaer Alumni Association. He is responsible for planning, managing, executing, and evaluating all programs of the Office of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving and maintaining a strong relationship with the Alumni Association Board of Trustees who work on behalf of Rensselaer's 90,000 alumni worldwide.

Prior to Rensselaer, he served as director of alumni relations at Marist, as well as three years in the Office of Admission. He has been a speaker at professional conferences and is an active member and leader of the Association of Private College and University Alumni Directors (PCUAD) where he maintains the group's assessment and metrics database. He received a B.A. in political science and a M.P.A. from Marist College and earned a C.A.S. and M.S. degree in Educational Administration and Policy Studies from the University at Albany. Jeff has been a member of the Alumni Executive Board since 2001 and has served as vice president for the past three years.

Patrick Mara '97 - Vice President

Patrick Mara currently serves as manager of government relations at ML Strategies in Washington, DC. He has served as a part of the U.S. Senate staff of the late Senator John H. Chafee (R-RI). He is a member of the DC Republican Advisory Council and is a District of Columbia Alternate Delegate for Senator John McCain to the 2008 Republican National Convention. Pat recently received an entrepreneurship focused MBA from Babson College, completing coursework in Wellesley, MA and various locations in eastern China, Hong Kong, and St. Petersburg, Russia. Pat is currently running for DC Council. He is a former Marist student body president and has been a member of the Alumni Executive Board since 2000 serving as Treasurer for the past year.

Alicia Ross - Grasfeder '98 - Treasurer

Alicia Ross Grasfeder is vice president and chief administrative officer at State Street Corporation Corporate Audit. She has been at State Street for three years and focuses on Sarbanes Oxley, Basel II, Firm Governance, and the division's strategic planning, quality, training, and technology initiatives. Alicia has spent a number of years in public accounting at two "Big Four" public firms and has held various roles within the financial services industry with a focus on enterprise-wide risks and controls. Alicia graduated cum laude from Marist in 1998 with a BS in business administration - information systems and a minor in accounting. She holds both the CPA and CISA designations. Alicia has been a member of the Alumni Executive Board since 2003.

Maura Brouillette '96 - Secretary

Maura Brouillette is the human resources director for Sasaki Associates, Inc. in Watertown, MA. She provides strategic human resources consultation and partnership to Principals and over 250 employees in two geographic locations. In this role, she executes strategies in all areas of human resources including staffing, employee relations, compensation, benefits administration, immigration, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development. Maura works in collaboration with Sasaki's Board of Directors to facilitate corporate organizational change initiatives and company-wide reorganization. She fosters relationships with employees to build a strong community where information and ideas are shared and employees feel valued. Maura has been a member of the Alumni Association Executive Board since 2006.
